When it’s time to go to college, the word “scholarship” is confusing for both students and parents. We automatically think about student loans, FAFSA, tuition and fees, EFC, grants, and work study. But what we don’t realize is that knowing more about the scholarship process could save us thousands of dollars when trying to cover the cost of our kids’ education.
Scholarships are “free money” given away by the government, private institutions and organizations, charitable foundations, schools, universities, clubs, etc. Unlike loans, scholarships are not repaid to the scholarship provider.
Some of the scholarships available are:
* Athletic Scholarships
* National Merit Scholarships
* Academic Merit Scholarships
* Professional, Career, and Trade Association-Sponsored Scholarships
* FAFSA
* Work Study
* Ethnic and Religious Scholarships
* Community Organization Sponsored Scholarships
* Special Scholarships
* Alumni Legacy Scholarships
* Transfer Student Scholarships
With so many scholarships, how do you know which one to apply to or where can you go for an application? Read more… »

By now, the buzz word that is seen as a silver lining by moms residing in the United States is “Scholarships for Mothers”. The responsibilities that are laid on a mother are innumerable. She has to take care of her children, cope with the household chores, run errands, etc. This makes it impossible for her to find time to pursue higher education which will in turn help her find a job with better prospects.
Thankfully, the US Government has come with a policy to lend scholarship grants of $10,000 for the qualifying moms on an annual basis. The most adorable part of this plan is that one shall not repay it nor has to pay a penny as interest.
Who qualifies?
Women who hold citizenship of US and are above 18 years of age.
The financial status which corresponds to a category that indicates her inability to manage the educational bills (tuition fare, books, campus funds, and transportation).
If you think you satisfy the above requirements, you can apply for the scholarship.
How does it work?
Firstly, you will opt for a college where you wish to pursue your education. Later, you have to choose the course that you are interested in. After you submit an application to the educational institution and fetch yourself an admission, you need to apply for the scholarship by filling up FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. This form is available in the institution and is free. Once you are done with this process, you have to wait to receive an approval letter.
This scholarship grant can also be availed by single mothers who have to look after their young kids and find it difficult to attend physical classes. Under such circumstances, the mother can choose an online course and utilize the grant for reimbursing the fee of that course.
So, if you are a single mom wanting to learn more to earn more then go for “Scholarships for mothers”. All you need to do is to apply and wait while the Government takes care of your educational expenses.

If you are a new college student and have recently ‘rushed’ your favorite fraternity or sorority, you are no doubt meeting many new people and forming some friendships that will last endure for a lifetime. You are proud of your association with the organization you joined and attended many parties and did some pretty outlandish things in order to become a full fledged member.
There is a lot of Greek paraphernalia available to you that you can purchase to show the world that you are now a member of a coveted sorority or fraternity. There is a wide variety available-you can easily find clothing, jewelry, blankets, towels, picture frames, bags and much more either at your local college campus gift store or by shopping online. There is no better choice of clothing for your fraternity to wear to the next ‘home’ college football game than Greek sweatshirts. You can proudly display your Greek letters while keeping warm plus it looks great when the entire organization sits together in the stadium and shares the fun and camaraderie! Most sorority sisters who share a common bond all have some sort of sorority apparel that they all wear for those important ceremonies or for when they are joining the neighboring fraternity for a night of fun festivities.
Greek life on campus is exciting and every new pledge knows the importance of having the right gift to give to a sorority sister or a fraternity brother who is celebrating a special occasion. Perhaps a graduation gift is in order, a birthday present or even a wedding gift for the soon-to-be bride or groom. There is a huge selection of Greek paraphernalia that would be more than appropriate for all of these occasions and more. If you happen to be attending school at a smaller institution and do not have the convenience of having a big student gift shop nearby, you can easily find Greek gifts online. There are entire websites that are dedicated to selling nothing but Greek gift items such as Greek paddles, customized sweatshirts, personalized tote bags and much more.
Your college years are some of the most special times you will spend in your life. The sisterhood or brotherhood you will experience in a college frat or sorority will allow you to build friendships that will endure way past college. Make the most of these times by memorializing your Greek campus life experiences-you will be glad you did!

Some of the benefits of education are pretty obvious and well-known: more career choices, better pay and benefits, work that is more rewarding for the individual.
Really those are just the ones you see. The underlying benefits are just as noteworthy and apply to people far beyond the individual worker. Of course, the children benefit from the security and opportunity that Mom’s career offers them. Perhaps it also offers them a more family-friendly schedule, time to attend school events, a more relaxed and secure home environment.
But the benefits extend beyond the family, too. Communities benefit when these educated Moms become involved in local affairs, school activities, mentoring programs. The revenue base for the state improves as these higher earners yield more tax money both through income and purchases. Local businesses benefit from having a better-trained and more efficient workforce.
The nation, too, benefits for all the same reasons: more involvement, better revenue base, a less stressed society as a whole. Some of these women move up to national leadership roles and become models for others. It is really quite amazing how over time the ripples keep spreading.
For all of these reasons, the federal programs that enable Moms to attain that key ingredient ? education and better jobs ? have been heavily funded to ease the tuition costs and related costs. Pell Grant funds have been increased; tax credits have been increased; the commitment to future job creation will assure that this trained work force will find plenty of opportunities when they go looking.
