You must research, research, research to find the graduate school scholarships that are right for you and your situation. Do your homework and start early (it’s recommended that you give yourself at least 12 months to research and apply for scholarships – so start your junior year). Check for scholarships in your area of study, or based on where you live, your culture, your socio-economic background, if you’re an adult returning student, etc. Check with the community organizations in your city or with your church and see if they offer any scholarships. Most graduate schools award financial aid to students in the form of scholarships, fellowships and research or teaching assistantships. It is a good idea to contact and communicate with your program of interest at several universities and let them know you are interested in all forms of financial aid. In other words, shop around and see who can offer you the best deal.

The internet is a rich source of graduate school scholarships, use it! There are many wonderful free scholarship databases available. Please be wary of any site that guarantees a scholarship or asks you to pay a large application fee. Look for scholarships at the local, state and federal levels. If you are in the work force, see if your employer offers tuition reimbursement. If you are still in school, be sure to utilize your academic advisors and financial aid office. Your public library is another great resource when looking for graduate school scholarships. Don’t be discouraged by thinking that all scholarships are reserved for students with incredible academic, athletic or artistic abilities. You don’t have to have a 4.0 GPA or be the equivalent of an opera singing Michael Jordan to get money. Awards are also available for students who are members of underrepresented groups, who live in certain areas of the country or who demonstrate financial need. Students with average GPAs who have outstanding leadership abilities or a history of community service are also eligible for many awards.

Getting your graduate school scholarship application in before the deadline in crucial! It is one of the easiest ways for grantees to weed out who will get scholarships. Everyone is prone to procrastination, but in this case procrastinating can cost you thousands of dollars. One trick is to make your personal deadline two weeks before the actual deadline. Allow individuals writing letters of reference or recommendation for you plenty of time, you want them to do a good job and not be rushed. Give teachers and professors even more time to write these letters since they will probably be writing them for other students too. You can do this! Spend time, not money. It will be worth it later when you aren’t chained to a hefty student loan.

Post graduation and specialized courses are getting more and more significance in today’s hugely competitive business world. Going by the trends followed these days, MBA is one of the most popular career choices made by graduates.

Whenever a student decides to join a business school, one of the foremost issues he has to face is arranging money. Now a day’s most of the good quality management colleges quote higher prices. Though it’s a different matter, candidates have more than positive chances of getting back their investment because of good placement offer. However, all students can not afford the exorbitant fees charged by these premier management schools but countless brilliant students may still want to follow their MBA course. Yet, doing an MBA is a slightly expensive affair because it entails, leaving behind home, job (if any), family, state or even country. In such cases, MBA scholarships or grants come very handy in realizing the ambition of completing MBA. These scholarships are wonderful options available to candidates who find it difficult to arrange large sums of money for MBA. Scholarships have become common features for MBA aspirants as many business schools and banks are willing to provide loans to needy students. These days, even few companies are willing to provide required sum if the student make some commitments, which is to be fulfilled after the completion of the course.

In general, business schools decide upon the scholarships depending upon students’ merit. Students also need to have high level of educational capability or impressive entrance test scores (like GMAT scores). Most often, these institutions also demand proof of monetary destitution. Banks are another source of finance. Most of the banks offer funds at preferential rates to the needy students. However, students need to fulfill certain eligibility criteria. Apart from these sources, there are several search options available on internet. These search sites are very useful in finding MBA scholarships. Thanks to these scholarships, so many of excellent students worldwide have been able to accomplish their dreams.

MBA in India has become very popular with the technological revolution and enhanced business competition. You can check out the growth cycle and significance of MBA in Indian MBA blog and India education blog.

Each and every college student applying for graduate school admissions has one big dream i.e. to get admission with scholarship or some form of aid. It’s a very tough question to answer and it applies to specific student profile o individual basis. But, hang on, there is a sure way to get admission with scholarship.

When you are in Graduate School Universities shortlisting phase, take a good look at the minimum GRE, TOEFL and GPA requirements for each school. Some grad schools and colleges will have different requirements from the department requirements. Make sure to check out college admission requirements for both the department you apply and grad school.

Now, having collected the information, I have seen students classify the colleges into Ambitious, Moderate and Safe categories. I would like to relate the word Ambitious to Luck with less probability. Why would someone has to waste few hundred dollars in college application fee and GRE and TOEFL score forwarding, application documents courier fee, when grad school admission is not sure.

Example:

GRE Score : 1210;

Grad School Minimum Requirement : 1400

And other factors are less than minimum requirements

I really wouldn’t waste my time and money in applying to such college.

Instead I would spend more time in searching for universities and college, that suits my profile. Also, it’s better to find decent schools that had research funding and that has minimum requirements less than what your credentials are.

Example:

Your GRE Score : 1310;

Grad School Minimum Requirement : 1100

And other factors are more or equal to the minimum requirements

There are so many grad schools out there with lots of research and scholarship opportunities. But, it takes time to find such schools. ( Steps to find schools that match your profile )

To answer the question I asked, the secret to get admission is to apply for schools that have minimum requirements below your credentials ( GRE, TOEFL, ..). Don’t select schools that have very low minimum requirements. If your score is 1350, apply for school that has minimum of 1100, don’t go for schools that have 1000 as minimum requirements.

Having short listed such schools, I would suggest to read How to email professors for guaranteed admission. Have this magic worked? Yes, I know many who got admission by following this simple tactic.
