Many scholarships are available for single mothers desiring to study for a business degree. To find available scholarships, single mothers wishing to pursue business degrees need to have a strategy. First, identify universities in your area that offer business degree scholarships. Next, apply for the scholarship. As a single mother seeking a business degree make sure you make this known in your application and be diligent in selecting a course of study that will accommodate your current responsibilities.

A couple of terms used to indicate scholarships specific for single mothers include:

· Single Parents

· Displaced Women

· Female students returning to school

· Non-Traditional Students

You could easily type these into the search engines to find useful results. The ways of searching for scholarship programs are limitless. Use as many combinations and variations of keywords as possible.

When looking for a scholarship, single mother candidates for a Business Degree need to examine the business courses they want to study. There are many variations of business degrees available. Single mothers need to consider how quickly the degree can be completed and whether to be a part-time or full time student.

Also when looking for a scholarship, single mother business degree applicants need to remember that in many cases grants, endowments, scholarships and other financial aid can be combined. This means you can apply for more than one scholarship or other form of financial aid at the same time. However, make sure you determine any limitations placed on accepting other scholarships when you submit your applications.

Many companies are also in the business of granting scholarships. Single mother business degree hopefuls should explore businesses and organizations in the area. They may be surprised at the number of establishments that do or will offer a scholarship. Degree applicants should also look at the company they currently work for and companies where their parents, other relatives and friends are employed.

Read the instructions carefully before completing the scholarship application, whether online or in print. It may take two or more readings of the application to get the full sense of the type of information needed.

Take great care to follow the guidelines established by the scholarship fund. It is easy to jeopardize your chance of getting that business degree scholarship if you don’t follow the rules. If you are unsure of the qualification requirements or procedures, get clarification before continuing. Don’t be afraid to ask the most innocent question. In fact, I have found that asking questions usually result in additional information you can use on the application.

Start looking for the scholarship of your choice now that you know where to look. Stay focused and keep applying until someone grants you a scholarship. You can’t just do one or two and wait for a response. Get as many scholarship applications in place as you can. Then one day when you open your mailbox, you’ll get a letter that starts with the word, “Congratulations”.

You must be dreaming about winning a college scholarship or receiving a sports or academic scholarship from a list of possible contributors. Actually none of the above. Parents or students can actually create their own college scholarship FREE with a little bit of thinking outside of the norm.

College scholarships are plentiful, yes, but it’s the acquiring of them, that is the obstacle. Why not listen to a different approach to acquiring enough capital to put you or your child through college. If the costs of everyday life weren’t enough already, reaching for additional funds to place your child or yourself through college is nothing more than a dream for most of us. We simply cannot afford college without trying to obtain college scholarships.

First, ask yourself, just exactly what is a college scholarship, grant, or paid tuition? A college scholarship is simply someone else paying for a recipient’s college expenses in order to reduce the amount the recipient has to pay for a college education.

College scholarships can be the difference in a student being able to enroll into college. Often times, the college that has accepted a student has done so strictly on the basis of the college scholarship, grant, or pre-paid tuition. Student loans are your worst-case scenario when searching for college funding. This is money you have to pay back, and that’s nothing more than buying on credit. Would you think going to college on a credit card was a smart investment?

Usually the mere thought of college scholarships doesn’t come to mind until months or even weeks before considering the reality of your child nearing their high school graduation. How will you tell them, I wish we could send you to college, but without a college scholarship we simply can’t afford it.

Remember what was said about what a college scholarship actually is? It’s someone else paying the bill. Sure, if we could afford it, we would definitely send our kids to college. Well, with all that’s already on your financial plate, mortgage, rent, credit card debt, insurance, car payment, loans and daily living expenses how could you generate more income without having to ask for it or by taking on a third job? Bottom-line you don’t have any more time to apply yourself after all that you are currently committed to.

College scholarships are searched for online by the thousands and nearly every site immediately wants you to give them your name, address, phone number and your whole life’s history, before they will expose you to the available list of college scholarship programs available. Do you know why? They want to bombard you with financial options. Options that ultimately lead you to financing your college expense yourself.

If you could afford to finance your child’s college expenses you wouldn’t be here reading this article, right? So, let’s turn this whole idea of college scholarships around and think logically for a moment. Is there an alternative to college scholarship money?

College scholarships should by all means, be pursued, but let’s not hang all of our efforts on receiving a college scholarship in determining whether or not you or your child goes to college. The real pursuit should be, you pursuing additional funds that you can control. Making more money without trying to spend more time than you have, is not only possible, but very eye opening when you give yourself the opportunity to see how many families are using the power of the internet, along with great tools to generate the much needed additional income. Before you write this suggestion off, it would be wise to at least read over this very current and popular tool. It’s an honest way to apply a few minutes of your time for a handsome financial reward.

In the time that you usually spend watching a single television show, you could be generating a few hundred dollars. And if you apply yourself consistently each week, we’re talking quite a nest egg in your pocket. Once you and your college bound student work together to generate this income, you are actually giving them a very valuable lesson in life. Creating your own college scholarship is possible and the savings from not pursuing student loans is a double win.One thing is for certain; it beats delivering pizzas for a few measly dollars and risking personal injury in the process. The choice is yours, but it’s a real and honest alternative to relying solely on a college scholarship.

Many scholarship-finding services will tell you that “millions of dollars in private scholarship money goes unused every year” and they can guarantee that you will get this money by using their service and most of time there is up front fee incur. BEWARE! It might be scholarship scam’s trap. In general, if you have to pay money to get money, it’s probably a scam.

Every year thousand of students and parents are defrauded by scholarship scams. And many of them even unaware that they had dropped into the trap of scholarship scams, the victims usually write off the money paid up front to the scams as thinking they just simply didn’t win the scholarship.

Let review some of common scholarship scams so that your will be alerted and precaution about the suspicious scholarship offers.

Common Scholarship Scams

According to the Federal Trade Commission’s Scholarship Scams, if you receive an offer that uses one of these tactics, be suspicious:

    * The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back

      Beware of scholarship-finding services that guarantee you will win a scholarship or your money will be refunded. If it is a scam, you will find it extremely difficult to qualify for refund, because this refund guaranteed often have terms & condition attached. Get and review refund policies before you pay.

    * Ask for your credit card or bank account to hold the winning scholarship for you

      If you receive phone call saying that you have won a scholarship and they need your credit card or bank account in order to hold the winning scholarship for you. Never! Never give out any credit card or bank account without getting information or confirmation in writing first. It might be a set-up for an unauthorized withdrawal from your account.

    * A super low interest rate loan that need advance fee

      This scam will offer you an unusual low interest rate loan but they will ask you to pay for a fee during the loan application submission. And when you pay for it, the promised loan never materializes. Be aware, real education loan usually deduce the fees from the disbursement check. It never required you to pay for a fee when you submit an application. If the loan is not issued by a bank or other recognized lender, it is probably a scam. Check the offer with your local bank’s manager before you pay..

    * You can’t get this scholarship information from anywhere else

      There are many scholarship lists available for public. A real scholarship is normally announced to public and you can get this information easily from college and the recognized financial aid agencies. Start your own researching from those locations before you pay for somebody to do the work for you.

    * You won a scholarship prize!

      The scam will inform you that you have won a college scholarship worth a few thousands of dollars but you will be asked to pay for a “redemption” fee or taxes before they can release your prize. If you receive this good news but you don’t remember entering any scholarship contest, be suspicious. Even If you have entered the contest, check and get the winning confirmation letter first before any payment being made. There are scams use the real scholarship contest to cheat for money, they know many people are enrolled for the contest and by chance you are in the list.

Summary

The above are just some commons in scholarship scams. There are still many other scholarship scams around. Always be precaution in any scholarship offer to you and always check for confirmation before any money pay out. The basic guideline is “if you have to pay money to get money, it’s probably a scam”.

www.studykiosk.com – Listing the best Distance Learning Programs available to date, It explains the many ins and outs of attending a “Virtual Classroom” to help you succeed in realizing your educational goals from self-improvement, to certification, to earning an online degree.

If you or someone you know is in the army, navy, air force or other service then you are eligible to apply for scholarships for military personnel and their family and friends.

There are not many of these scholarship opportunities available but if you find one, make sure you apply as it is a unique opportunity to get educational financial assistance.

You can even use the money to help out a fellow friend or a family member if they wish to go to college. Most scholarships simply require you to use the money for an education related purpose.

Tuition costs are highly expensive these days and whether you are studying online or at a campus, you will be up for thousands of dollars in fees. Some of the ways that people pay their fees include:

    * Student loans
* Borrowing from parents
* Personal loans
* Grants
* Graduate scholarships

The above are either very expensive in the long run or highly difficult to obtain. That is why scholarships are the preferred method of most students – often the only thing stopping people is actually getting a scholarship.

You must first find a scholarship that provides the amount of money that you need, or at least close to it. $5000 scholarships are a great start, but try and aim for more than that as you’ll find that money disappears really fast.

Scholarships for military members, their family and friends are the ultimate way to get that cash that you need to make your college life easier!

Did you know that you can win a $10,000 Scholarship?

If you or a family member is in the military or retired from service, you are eligible for a $10,000 military scholarship.

While trying to get a college education, you may find that you are going to need more help than you are eligible for with financial aid. The good thing is there are many companies and organizations that understand that need and help by giving scholarships. There are many scholarships available and if you are Hispanic, there are many that offer Hispanic scholarships.

Many companies offer scholarships for different reasons. Some are hoping to gain your loyalty and have a future employee in the making. Some of the high tech fields are hoping to “lock up” the best and the brightest students in specific areas of expertise. Many hope to promote diversity in the student bodies through out the country. Whatever their reasoning, there are many Hispanic scholarships out there for the taking.

Some of them require that you are an incoming freshman. Here are a few that you can apply for:

There are many scholarships available from the Hispanic College Fund organization. For every available scholarship, you must be of Hispanic heritage, have a 3.0 to a 4.0 GPA (grade point average), be a permanent legal residence, and planning to register as a full time student. You can apply for their general scholarship fund. Although they have no major requirement; you must just demonstrate your financial need. They offer $500 to $5,000 per scholarship.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers a scholarship from Camino al Exito Program. To qualify for the scholarship, you must be of Hispanic heritage. You must also be a citizen of the United States or have a permanent residence card or a passport that is stamped I-551 and does not expire. They offer help ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. You must be scheduled to graduate high school and have between a 3.0 and 4.0 verifiable GPA, (Grade Point Average) and you must apply for financial aid and have documentation to verify that application.

If you are currently a college student and need additional financial help, you can still find many Hispanic scholarships. In fact, a lot of companies prefer to invest in students that have proven that they can withstand the pressure and demands of college life. Here are a few companies that offer continuous educational help:

When trying to further your education in the media related careers, you can apply for the McNamara Family Foundation scholarship. Not only do you need to be Hispanic, but you also must be currently enrolled as a full time student in the creative arts field. The scholarships will range from $5,000 to $20,000 per individual student. You must have a GPA of 3.0 to 4.0. You must have successfully completed 12 undergraduate credits from an accredited American college or university.

Costco also offers a Hispanic scholarship for students that are getting a degree in Pharmacy. You must have finished one year of pharmacy school or beginning your sophomore year as a pharmacy major. Individual scholarship, are for $9,500 but you must sign an agreement to work at Costco for at least one year and they will also contribute $500 towards your exam fees and licensing. Your GPA needs to be 3.0 or higher. Proof must be submitted to demonstrate your need for financial help.

No matter what your particular field of interest or the amount of help that you need, there are lots of Hispanic scholarships available. Just read the submission process very carefully. There are a lot of different deadlines and documentation required, so make sure you follow them carefully.

Students who are talented in sports such as volleyball may apply for athletic scholarships to further their education while perfecting their athletic skills. The popularity of college sports in the United States has made athletic scholarships something which many high school students aspire to achieve. Many are looking for the most appropriate offers available to them. If they win such offers, they become college athletes.

In volleyball, there are six players on a team, with three positioned in the front row and three on the back row. After the ball is served, front line players may switch positions at the net. Each team is allowed a maximum of three hits at the ball per side. A single player may not hit the ball twice in succession. A block, however, is not considered a hit.

The game is played on a court measuring 18 meters in length and 9 meters in width. A pole (referred as an antenna) is placed on either side of the net perpendicular to the sideline, and is considered as a vertical extension of the side border of the court. A ball that is maneuvered over the net must bypass the antennae completely without making contact with them. Volleyball players have developed various skills such as spiking, passing, blocking, and setting, as well as inventing particular player positions. A ball is considered “out” if it hits an antenna, the floor completely outside the court, any of the net or cables outside the antennae, the referee stand or pole, and the ceiling above a non-playable area. Catching, holding, or throwing the ball are also not allowed.

When a player touches the ball while reaching over the net, it is considered a violation if the ball hasn’t gotten past the vertical plane of the net. Stepping over the court centerline with any part of the player’s body is also a violation. If it’s only a player’s hand or foot, the entire hand or entire foot must cross before it is considered a violation.

Students looking to become college athletes need information on how to avail of athletic scholarships. The Internet has proven to be a useful venue for both high school students and coaches looking for new talent to become college athletes. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can come together and interact. D1Athletes is an online community wherein student athletes and coaches alike can share and exchange information they need concerning college volleyball and athletic scholarships. D1Athletes offers them a place to build an online presence and gain important public exposure.

A lot of female students today; regardless of their course and educational attainment, are still experiencing difficulties to land better jobs and opportunities compared to their male counterpart. Moreover, a lot of professional industries in the US are dominated by male workers. Could education be the factor behind the growth of male workers in the workplace?

While the number of the population could be a factor, education can also affect the number of women to men ratio in the workplace. This also shows that a lot of today’s women are unable to become professionals or to become contributors to other industries where there are more workers. This reality has been brought to the attention of various institutions, and yet, not a lot of action has been done to equalize the number of female and male workers, provide more opportunities for women, and most of all, provide women with the right educational assistance and benefits.

The country has, however, various offices that are willing to extend financial aid for women who would like to become professionals or excel in their profession in a specific field, be it male-dominated or not. Today’s top sponsors who provide women with scholarships and grants are:

American Association of University Women (AAUW)– The AAUW, as the society is commonly called, is an organization that provides educational and social support to women. They support women of all ages by providing them with financial aid, resources, legal assistance, community projects, livelihood programs, awards, medical assistance, as well as promoting equity for women. The AAUW Educational Foundation, the division under AAUW that is responsible for managing scholarships and grants to female students, provide generous benefits to its scholars as well as a generous monthly scholarship fee.

Women In Defense HORIZONS Scholarship Foundation– HORIZONS is a scholarship foundation managed by the WID. It assists women who wish to pursue their college education with courses relating to National Security and similar fields. They provide a $500 scholarship and a possible job opportunity upon graduation. In order to qualify, applicants must take courses in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, Law, Political Science, Economics, and the like. Only female US citizens are allowed with a minimum GPA of 3.25 to qualify. To apply, obtain a HORIZONS form from the Women in Defense.

Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund– Perhaps the most generous scholarship program from this group is the Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund. This financial aid for women awards up to $10, 000 in scholarships for women who are seeking to pursue their college education. Only 1, 000 applicants are accepted– if you wish to receive the Talbots Scholarship, you will need to apply ahead of time. The deadline is usually on the 15th of January of each year.

There are several other financial aid for women that provide more benefits compared to the above listed. Nonetheless, they were all established to help women who wish to become professionals realize that dream and eventually, find better opportunities for themselves and their families. Financial aid for women are also growing in number to do the dilemma wherein women are being given lesser opportunities compared with men.

Many scholarship-locating services will tell you that “millions of dollars in private scholarship money goes unused annually.” The fact is, almost all available financial aid comes from the federal government or from individual colleges.

More than 340,000 people are duped by scholarship fraud every year. Private scholarships are usually awarded to very specific applicants, such as students with a particular career interest, or members of a certain religious organization or church. These institutions have created funds for students. They are willing to give them to qualified people and have no interested in keeping the money a secret.

You can easily learn more about these opportunities by checking with appropriate institutions. Contact organizations or clubs to determine what they look for in an applicant. Your high school or college guidance counselor can also provide information on scholarships.

Beware of Scholarship Fraud

If you decide to use a scholarship locater service, watch out. These scams have been around for many years. More than 340,000 people are cheated by scholarship fraud annually, losing some $5 million, according to the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.

How to spot a scholarship fraud

The Federal Trade Commission offers the following tips regarding spotting potential scholarship fraud.

    * ”The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back.”

      This is an empty promise. The first red flag is that you need to send somebody money in order to get money. This is a guarantee that is easy to make but harder to honor. If it is an application that you are sending in then it means that you probably have not been awarded the scholarship. If this is the case, then how could anybody promise it to you? This does not make any sense. Anytime somebody makes a promise that is hard to keep, you should be very cautious.
* ”You can not get this information anywhere else.”

    * ”We need your credit card or bank account number to reserve this scholarship for you.”

      This is a very common scam technique and anytime you hear these words, you should question it. This is identity theft under the guise of a scholarship locator service. Once the con artist has your personal information, he can empty out your bank account or make purchases to your credit card.
* ”We do all the work.”

    * ”The scholarship will cost money.” It is understandable that you might have to pay a small processing fee when you submit your application, but this is also indicative that this is a business, a scam, or a fake scholarship program.

    * ”You have been selected to receive a scholarship” or “You are a finalist” in a contest you know you did not enter.

      People are rarely contacted by scholarship locator services in this manner. Normally, you send in the paperwork and then you are awarded a scholarship not the other way around. If somebody contacts you claiming to be from a scholarship locator service, and they ask you for your credit card number, be careful. Exercise safe credit card practices by NOT giving out your personal information unless you initiated the call to begin with. The caller is more interested in your personal information such as bank account or credit card numbers than giving you a scholarship.

There are lots of consumer fraud schemes out there. It is up to you, the consumer, to educate yourself to recognize what is and is not legitimate. By doing so, you can minimize becoming a victim of consumer fraud crimes.

Fabiola Castillo is an online marketer for the website NinjaCOPS.com. This virtual store specializes in home security products where you can buy wireless hidden cameras, kubatons, cell phone stun guns, nunchaku, air Tasers, expandable batons, and many other self defense products.
