Friend of Shad Boaz Entertains at Star Nov. 26

Paducah native, Lone Oak High School graduate, and Louisville Americana singer-songwriter Sam Hadfield will be the headliner for the Second Annual Black Friday Show at The Star Neighborhood Bar and Grill in Paducah at 3100 Broadway. It’s scheduled to run from 9 pm to midnight, Friday, Nov. 26, the day after Thanksgiving. The $5 donation at the door goes toward the Shad Boaz Memorial Scholarship Fund, designed to help a deserving St. Mary’s High School graduating senior this year to attend Murray State University.

Kelsey Waldon, Chris Black, and Touch Armor Class each will perform solo sets leading up to Sam Hadfield and Friends.

Hadfield, 23, is a regular on the Louisville music scene and earlier this fall released his first CD, an EP entitled Brook Street. He writes songs based on his own experiences, observations, and reading. He currently is pursuing an English degree at the University of Louisville. He also has a fondness for traditional folk songs, such as “Stacker Lee” and frequently sings them in shows. His musical influences range from Bob Dylan to John Prine, Guy Clark, Justin Townes Earle, and other roots artists whose songs he also performs.

Louisville public radio station WFPK plays Hadfield’s music on a regular basis. He recently performed on WHAS-TV and was interviewed on www.Leoweekly.com/music/podcasts . He has opened the show for Joe Pug and recently was featured in the Southern Trails Tour.
