Minority Nursing Students – Scholarships And Organizations For You

If you are a member of a minority group, and are considering nursing school, here are some resources and organizations for you. There are many special grants and scholarships which you may be eligible for through these organizations, and they can give you advice on seeking grants and scholarships as well. Also, joining the organizations looks great on a resume, brings networking opportunities and friendships.

The American Indian Nursing Student Success Program has awarded the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center grants to assist qualified students with the baccalaureate program at the OU College.

The American Indian Students United in Nursing offers scholarships and support to qualified students.

The Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation offers scholarships to African American, Hispanic or Native American students who are pursuing an education as nurse practitioners.

The National Black Nurses Assocation offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000.

A website called Minoritynurse.com offers great resources for minority and non-minority nurses, as well as information about scholarships.

The National Association of Hispanic Nurses offers scholarships.

The Catholic University of America School of Nursing, located in Maryland, seeks to recruit Hispanic nurses to attend their school.

The Native Alaska Native American Indian Nurses Assocation offers scholarships.

The American Assocaiton of Colleges of Nursing gives a number of scholarships, including minority scholarships.

The African American Nursing Students Organization at the University of Texas at Austin School serves to provide networking and support for its members.
