Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) – To ensure quality of lessons, making classes more interesting, Bangladesh will adopt visual communication as a teaching tool for school and college students. The government has decided to introduce multimedia classrooms beginning in June 2012.

Recent studies claim that students are losing interest in classroom teaching. There are significant dropouts as students complain the lessons are boring.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Thursday modern technology-based classrooms will be introduced in the country’s 250,000 schools, colleges and madrasas (Koranic schools) from June next, according to United News of Bangladesh. All the schools, colleges and madrasas will be provided laptop and internet connectivity aiming at making the class room more attractive and innovative.

The lawmaker and minister said the government will set up multimedia classroom in all educational institutions within two years.

“We are setting up one multimedia classroom at each targeted school as well as providing training the teachers as well as assisting them in preparing digital contents,” Raehana Taslim, assistant professor of Teachers Training College, told state-owned news agency BSS.

The use of information and communication technology tools will encourage the students to continue with science and technology education, the official said.
